Event Preview: Southern Word’s Annual State of the Word

Posted by on Thursday, December 12, 2019 in Creative Campus Blog, Uncategorized.

In the field of creative writing a writers’ only competition is his or her own anxiety. It’s a bit different in the spoken word arena, where writers must pit their language and oratory skills against seasoned wordsmiths, all vying to see whose grasp on delivering the written word is best. Spoken word combines a writers’ ideas with a performance designed to bring those ideas to life. See for yourself at the Blair School of Music’s Ingram Hall this Friday, December 13th, at 7:30 pm when Southern Word hosts its annual State of the Word event. You’ll hear from a crop of talented young writers and have the opportunity to see who will be named Nashville’s 2020 Youth Poet Laureate as well. You can buy tickets online (link below) or at the door.
