Punjabi is a language spoken by the inhabitants of the historical region called Punjab, now located in north western India and Pakistan. There are various scripts used to write this language, depending on the region in which the speaker lives. It can be written in Gurmukhi or Devangari script, which look alike. It can also be written in Shahmukhi script, which is a variant of the Urdu alphabet. There are approximately 110 million speakers of this language, worldwide.
