Macromolecular Decision Makers in Health & Disease
Proteins are key components in regulating life. Proteins continuously interact with several other molecules to mediate cell proliferation. Macromolecular decision makers are protein machines that regulate key decisions in cell signaling and ultimately determine cell fate. Research in my laboratory studies how cells respond to stimuli and how these events activate pathways that protect our genome (all our genes). Our long-term goal is to decipher mechanistic themes that enable us to create 3D models that accurately describe cellular processes, in both normal and diseased states. This information will have an important role in developing ways to detect, treat and ultimately prevent human diseases, such as cancer.
