Welcome New CSB Employees: Sai Medury & Mariam Haider
The Center for Structural Biology welcomes Sai Medury and Mariam Haider to the team!
Sai is as associate system administrator brought in to help maintain and troubleshoot CSB systems. He plays the role of CSB liaison to ACCRE and will work closely with the ACCRE team to fast-track task projects related to CSB systems. He’ll assist on cryoSPARC setup, DORS management and transition to Auristor File System.
Sai has a background in Computer Science and a deep understanding of HPC infrastructure. He is also simultaneously finishing his PhD in Computational Science at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and holds a Master of Software Engineering from Auburn University.
In his spare time, Sai enjoys watching NFL and SEC football and playing Pokemon Go.
Mariam is as a research associate in the Cryo-EM facility. She assists in the daily operations of both facility locations in Medical Center North and the Engineering Science Building. She also assists on user projects, operates microscopes and trains new users on instruments, such as the new Cryo-TEM Glacios.
Mariam was first introduced to Cryo-EM during her Master of Science at the University of Glasgow and continued doing computational work in cryo-tomography in David Bhella’s lab. Last year, she moved to Nashville in the middle of the pandemic to work as a research assistant in Dr. Qiangjun (QJ) Zhou‘s lab.
Mariam is part of the CSB Outreach committee, and in her spare time, enjoys playing tennis, horse riding and is looking for badminton hitting buddies!
