Sept. 21, 2020 – Staying Strong

Posted by on Monday, September 21, 2020 in Community Messages.

Dear colleagues,

As hard as it is to believe, we are already one-third of the way through our fall semester schedule. Whether you have been working on campus or remotely, none of this has been easy. But our staff members’ commitment and sustained effort have made the start of the year a great success.

You make possible the pursuit of our mission to provide an empowering education to our students. Though our staff members’ responsibilities vary widely, what you share in common is your essential, individual contribution to that mission. Your dedication and commitment to excellence have enabled us to accomplish thus far what so many other universities have been unable to do this semester. We are proud to be working alongside you at this remarkable university at this historic time.

Thanks to your expertise, creativity and professionalism, members of our community are learning, living and working alongside one another—both in person and virtually—as you’ll see captured in some of the photos below. What comes through most clearly in these images is a manifestation of our university’s values and ideals. Those of us who are remote have been connected and engaged. Those of us who are on campus are committed, purposeful, and dedicated to supporting one another. Campus may look different this year, but there is a feeling of palpable energy and excitement for our future.

As we continue the semester, we urge you to keep up the great work and continue protecting the health and safety of our One Vanderbilt community as much as possible. If you have suggestions on ways your efforts can be supported further, let us know via covid-questions@vanderbilt.edu.

Now is the time to stay focused, remain vigilant, and take care of one another as only Commodores can.

Thank you for an excellent start. Stay strong—together, we can get this done.

Onward!
