Top 3 Brightspace Improvements of the 2018-2019 School Year
Every month, Brightspace will release new features and updates. You can get a comprehensive view of the updates here, but this blog post will give you a quick overview of what’s new on Brightspace!
Brightspace Support is dedicated to educating the campus on new updates that can improve the learning experience. Over the 2018-2019 school year, our team has come up with the top 3 improvements:
1) Rubrics Grading and Feedback
Previously, students could not view their graded rubrics on the Class Progress page. However, that changed in August 2018 when D2L added rubric grades and feedback to the User Progress area. This update makes the Class Progress tool even more of a one-stop-shop for everything students need to know!
2) New Assignment Types
The original types were: File submission and Text submission. It used to be that students had to actually upload a file or type in text to an assignment in order to submit it. Now, instructors have options about what kind of assignment to give.
The new types are: On paper submission and Observed in person. Both of these types do not require students to submit anything and instructors can grade physically completed assignments. Instructors can even decide how the assignment is marked as completed: Manually by the students themselves, automatically after being graded, or automatically on the assignment due date.

3) Downloading Syllabus
Previously, students could only view and print their syllabus from the specified tab on the Content page. Now, download links have been added for archiving ease.
