Audacity is a free, easy-to-use and multilingual audio editor and recorder for Windows, Mac OS X, GNU/Linux and other operating systems.

Pros
It’s flexible. Audacity runs on Mac, Windows, and GNU/Linux. It can capture streaming audio can be used to dub over existing tracks to create multi-track recordings.
It’s relatively easy to use. The program provides easy editing with cut, copy, paste and delete commands.
It’s well-supported. Excellent support is available for JAWS, NVDA and other screen readers
on Windows, and for VoiceOver on Mac.
