2024 Graduate Program Awards

On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, these students and faculty members were recognized at an all-department meeting for their achievements:

Megan Jones was named Distinguished Teaching Assistant, in recognition of excellence in teaching and dedication to peer education.

Kaidi Kang was presented with the W. S. Gosset Award for Exceptional Research, in recognition of exemplary research advancing the field and impact of biostatistics.

Lisa Levoir was presented with the Commodore Award in Biostatistics, in recognition of altruistic dedication to enriching the department and graduate program.

Jonathan Schildcrout was named Outstanding Faculty Mentor, in recognition of excellence in dedicated mentoring with an altruistic commitment to student learning beyond the classroom.

Rameela Raman was presented with the Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching, in recognition of an altruistic commitment to student classroom learning.

In addition, recent graduate Shengxin Tu was honored as the co-winner of the department’s 2023 Methods Publication Award, for “Rank intraclass correlation for clustered data.” See our February 16 post for more about this paper.

The Distinguished Teaching Assistant award is determined by the faculty and student body. The Gosset and Commodore Award recipients are chosen by the faculty. Outstanding Faculty Mentor and Golden Apple honors are awarded by the students. The Methods Publication Award is juried by a faculty committee.
