“The network and support system of driven veterans, while I’ve transitioned from military service, has proven invaluable.”

Tell us about your military service. What did you do? Where did you serve? What do you value the most about your military service?

I served as a transportation and logistics officer in the Army from 2017 to 2024. I was initially assigned to a Transportation Company in the 101st Airborne Division and deployed to Poland and surrounding countries in 2018 for nine months as a Detachment Commander in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve. While assigned to the 101st Airborne Division I also held positions such as Platoon Leader, Brigade Adjutant, and Division Transportation Operations Officer. In 2021 I was assigned to the 25th Infantry Division at Schofield Barracks Hawaii. I served as a Battalion Logistics Officer and then had the privilege of commanding a Support Maintenance Company from 2023 to 2024 as the Company Commander of B CO, 524th Division Sustainment Support Command. Company Command was the highlight of my career, and I am thankful and humbled that I had the opportunity to lead soldiers. I will always value the relationships with the people I served with the most.

What are your thoughts on mentoring other students while at Vanderbilt? As a role model, what values do you want to share?

The role of a mentor is incredibly important to me. During my time in the Army, I was blessed with extraordinary mentors, and I always made it a point to pay it forward and mentor others when I had the chance. I am excited to share my unique experiences and mentor others while at Vanderbilt. Conversely, I look forward to learning from my peers, their experiences, and being a part of the Vanderbilt and Nashville communities. As a mentor, three values I want to share and emphasize are integrity, trust, and teamwork.

While at Vanderbilt, what will be the focus of your studies and how do you plan to use this knowledge in your future career?

While at Peabody I will focus on Secondary Education. Upon finishing my degree, I plan to teach High School Social Studies. I look forward to using what I learn at Peabody to serve my community and help teach and mentor kids in a way that inspires them to be responsible citizens and pursue their own greatness.
