Forbes article provides guidance on hiring neurodiverse talent
At the Frist Center for Autism and Innovation, we strongly believe that autistic people (and those with other types of neurodiversity) have valuable insights and skills to add to the workforce. An increasing number of companies around the globe have also begun to recognize the value of neurodiverse talent, and now they’re asking: what does it look like to hire and manage neurodivergent people?
Dr. Ron Young, the Co-Founder/Chief Science Officer and lead psychologist of PAIRIN, is also a member of the Forbes Coaches Council. In that capacity, he decided to tackle this question. Dr. Young’s Forbes article, published on Sept. 19, is titled Hiring And Coaching The Neurodiverse: How To Provide Support In Your Organization.
Dr. Young uses the example of his son, who was diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome, to discuss how the hiring and managing process can be adapted for neurodivergent employees. He provides three components that employers must grasp to successfully recruit and retain neurodivergent employees.
If your business would like to know more about how to hire and coach the neurodiverse, we highly recommend you read Dr. Young’s article. If this is a topic you would like to discuss further with Frist Center staff, please contact us via email.
