Applications Open for SNP-REACH High School Summer Program; Participants and Counselors Sought! Apply Today!
The Standford Neurodiversity Project (SNP) – is announcing its 7th SNP – Research, Education, and Advocacy Camp for High Schoolers (SNP-REACH) for Summer 2025. SNP aims to empower neurodivergent individuals, train neurodiverse individuals in education and the workforce, and spread awareness for these issues.
Camp Details:
SNP-REACH will hold two two-week summer camps for high school students in 2025 (one hybrid and one in-person). At this camp, students have various opportunities, including learning more about neurodiversity advocacy, the strengths-based model, universal design principles, and more. Leading lecturers, researchers, and clinicians from Stanford and around the country will present on different aspects of neurodiversity and allyship. Students can also hear from neurodivergent student advocates and, using the design thinking approach, collaborate on group neurodiversity advocacy projects that they can continue beyond the program, allowing the students to connect more deeply and actively.
Students from around the US and worldwide will join via Zoom or in person on Stanford’s campus. The hybrid option allows students to listen carefully to educators, use closed captioning, and use preference of voice or the chat function to communicate, which fosters full engagement in group discussions. Remote and in-person formats allow students to make new friends, expand their worldview, and continue the conversation beyond the camp.
In the Summer of 2024, SNP selected 100 high school students from over 350 applications representing students from all over California, the United States, several Asian countries, South America, and Europe.
Camp Dates
Cohort #1: July 7 – July 18, 2025 (HYBRID)
Cohort #2: July 21 – August 1, 2025 (IN-PERSON at Stanford University).
Camp Counselor Positions
SNP is looking for dedicated college students who are passionate about neurodiversity, community service, and advocacy and have excellent organization skills to help plan the camp over the next few months and contribute to the camp over the summer. Commitment is about 1-2 hours/week in the Spring and early Summer and 6-8 hours/day during camp. Camp leaders earn about $22.5 per hour. Any college student with a connection to neurodiversity is welcome to apply.
Camp leaders lead group projects of their choice using the design thinking approach. Students learn about neurodiversity from professors, researchers, clinicians, and neurodivergent student advocates. Through the design thinking process, campers then collaborate on neurodiversity advocacy projects that often continue beyond the program. Past projects are varied and include children’s books written and published as a part of their camp project and videos educating teachers and parents about neurodiversity.
