ASBMB article promotes neurodiversity inclusion in labs
The Frist Center for Autism and Innovation is first and foremost a research center, and is proud to employ several autistic researchers, interns and staff members. Frist Center leadership has been intentional about setting an example for other organizations which are considering recruiting neurodivergent talent.
Recently, Vanderbilt University Medical Center postdoc and contributing writer for the member magazine of the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) Beth Stivison developed a guide for other research labs to follow in the Frist Center’s footsteps. Her article, published on May 22, provides advice for Principal Investigators (PIs) who would like to make their labs more neurodiversity-friendly. Stivison interviews Frist Center Associate Director and autism self-advocate Dave Caudel, among others, for her piece.
