Our faculty learning hub is designed to help Vanderbilt faculty and instructional staff enhance their course design and assessment strategies. These mini modules provide concise, practical guidance on structuring courses with clear learning goals, aligning assessments with objectives, and fostering student-centered learning.   • Who are these modules designed for?

    These modules are designed for Vanderbilt faculty looking for practical, research-based strategies to enhance their teaching.

  • How do I register?
    1. Access the Self-Registration Page
      You can either click the Self Registration Link, or navigate to the Self-Registration tab at the top of your Brightspace navigation bar.

    2. Find the Right Course

      On the Self-Registration page, you will see a list of available self-registering courses. Click on the Course Offering Name to begin the registration process.

      Note: If you have already registered for a course, its name will appear in black and will not be clickable.

              

    3. Confirm Course Information:

      Review the course details, including the course name, course code, and description. Click the “Register” button to proceed.

    4. Enter Your Information:

      You will be prompted to enter your full name, VU email address, and VUNetID.
      If you accessed this page through Brightspace, this information will be pre-filled for you.

    5. Confirm Your Information:

      Double-check that your personal information is correct. If everything looks good, click “Finish” to complete the registration.

    6. Access Your Course

      1. You will receive a confirmation email from D2L Support confirming your registration.
      2. You can click the first link in the screenshot below to access your course.
      3. You can also find your course under the "Self-Registration Course" tab in Brightspace.
  • How long do the modules take to complete?

    Each module is designed to be completed in about 30 minutes, making them easy to fit into a busy schedule.

  • Will I receive a certificate or acknowledgment for completing modules?

    Currently, completion is self-paced and informal, but faculty may integrate what they’ve learned into their teaching evaluations or professional development plans.

  • Will more modules be developed?

    Yes, this content is part of a broader faculty development initiative aimed at improving teaching effectiveness through evidence-based practices. Additional resources, including workshops, consultations, and instructional guides, will complement these modules, as we continue to grow our arsenal, to further support faculty in creating impactful learning experiences.
