What to Expect & Resources

AdvancED offers consultation and production services for Vanderbilt faculty interested in developing high quality media elements in their online course. Services offered include:

Video Production

  • Record using 4K cameras, high quality microphones, and green screen to transform your spoken lecture into engaging videos for online learning experiences. 

Audio Production

  • Record and produce audio elements in our bespoke podcast workstation with two studio microphones. Audio lessons and podcasts reach auditory learners and create new opportunities for review.

Graphic Design

  • Use dynamic diagrams, charts, and photos to promote visual learning.

Our Production Facilities

Digital Media Lab

Our sophisticated facility is divided into two rooms with stations capable of video, photo, audio, graphic, and web productions. The video production studio includes an array of lights, microphones, backdrops, and a video mixer for highly customizable recordings. The editing suite next door provides a quiet space, high-end microphones and audio editing software for professional sounding audio in your podcasts and other recorded materials.

One Button Studio

Our One Button Studio is a simple video recording setup which can be used without any prior video production experience. The studio allows you to create polished video presentations featuring you and your slideshow. Bring your flash drive, a laptop to run your presentation, and push a single button to begin developing quality media content.

Our Team

All recording sessions are operated by one of our Digital Media Specialists. From consultations and practice sessions to final recordings, they partner with you to ensure your media elements best represent you and your content.

Connor Bacon

Connor Bacon

Associate Director, Media & Learning Technology

Connor oversees our digital media operations, focusing on processes and execution surrounding our end-to-end digital media production. Hailing from the northwest, Connor has spent the last 7 years as a filmmaker and cinematographer primarily in the marketing and advertising world. Holding a BA in Visual Communication Design from Eastern Washington University, he is mostly self-taught when it comes to the world of production. With a keen eye for detail and love for process, he has now expanded his expertise towards higher education at Vanderbilt. When he's not behind a camera, he can be found climbing rocks and hiking outdoor trails.

Seth Shepherd

Seth Shepherd

Production Specialist

Seth Shepherd is one of the Office of Digital Education’s Digital Media Specialists. Prior to his position with ODE, Seth worked at Vanderbilt’s Center for Teaching, Nashville Public Library’s teen makerspace, and as a freelance video producer. He specializes in educational media, podcasting, and live streaming. Seth holds a BS in Journalism and Cinema Studies from University of Tennessee-Knoxville.

Allison Alonzo

Allison Alonzo

Production Specialist

Allison Alonzo is one of the Office of Learning Innovation's Production Specialists. She joins Vanderbilt after 5 years of television and film on set experience. Allison graduated from Belmont University with a BFA in Motion Pictures with an emphasis in Cinematography & Directing. Off campus, Allison is often found golfing, cooking, or reading and drinking tea at a local coffee shop!

Sydney Tomaine

Sydney Tomaine

Graphic Designer

Sydney Tomaine is one of the Office of Digital Education’s Digital Media Specialists. She graduated with her BFA in Graphic Design from The University of Alabama. Before she joined the Vanderbilt team, you could find her on the track, or behind a camera - capturing a variety of different special events around the country. She likes a variety of different design elements but loves some good typography and layouts.
