VIO Research Grants: Past Recipients
Politics, Poetics, and Representation and Conversations/Conversas (Category A & B)
PI: Vesna Pavlovic, Assistant Professor
Department/School: Art, College of Arts and Science
Partner: University of Sao Paulo, Brazil
Description: This grant allowed for discussions and exchange visits between the Vanderbilt and USP partners. Through this collaboration, the main theme that emerged as a concern was the future of the imagination in relation to the life of the city. A group of faculty from Art, Anthropology, and Philosophy are working with colleagues from the University of Sao Paulo’s School of Visual art and Communications to establish a research partnership and open possibilities for faculty, student and curriculum exchange.
The goal of the collaboration remains to promote national and international exchanges between researchers and others to develop and realize artistic, theoretical and outreach projects. Future plans include reaching out to the Vanderbilt Press, including other departments, creating webcasts, producing a touring exhibition and implementing a Vanderbilt faculty-led Maymester in São Paulo.
