Rothschild College

Opened in August 2022, Rothschild College is located on the corner of West End Avenue and 24th Avenue South.  Rothschild College provides state-of-the-art accommodations inside gothic-style architecture.

Rothschild College houses 333 upper-division students in four-person suites, traditional double rooms, and traditional single rooms.  Corridors and common areas are carpeted. Student rooms have hard surface flooring.

Notable spaces include a dining hall, great room, study lounges and a reservable Black Box Theater.

Rothschild College is led by a Faculty Head of College. The Faculty Head works closely with Residential Colleges staff, a graduate student worker, and the College Programming and Advisory Councils to encourage living and learning outside of the classroom. The residents are also supported by an Area Coordinator who resides in neighboring Nicholas S. Zeppos College, and Head Residents and Resident Advisers who all live in the college.

The college is named in recognition of the transformational $20 million gift that Marieke and Jeff Rothschild, BA’77, MS’79, made in 2016 to accelerate the development of the residential college system.  Rothschild College is comprised of two halls, both named in honor of the Vanderbilt Arboretum:

  • Maple Hall
  • Red Oak Hall

Residency also incurs the required Residential College Experience Fee.
