In George Lucas’ Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back, Luke Skywalker as the romantic hero undergoes little character development. By the closing scenes of The Empire Strikes Back, Luke has gained valuable skills in his quest to become a jedi knight; however, in Return of the Jedi, Luke completes the personal introspection which will increase his powers as a jedi and reduce his weaknesses against Darth Vader and the Emperor. As Luke experiences this personal growth, Lucas emphasizes the importance of the human and natural world.
